European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas

La Guardia is a certified property within the framework of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas, located in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park and the UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve “Isole di Toscana.”

Our commitment focuses on enhancing the tourism experience and strengthening our collaboration with the Park Authority: we provide our guests with high-quality service, develop activities to explore the protected territory, and promote the Park’s initiatives and local partnerships.

The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas (ECST) is both a methodological tool and a certification designed to enhance tourism management within protected areas.

At its core, the Charter fosters collaboration among all stakeholders to develop a shared strategy and action plan for tourism development that aligns with the conservation of natural and cultural heritage. It aims to continuously improve tourism management in protected areas, benefiting the environment, local communities, businesses, and visitors alike.
